STREET OUTREACH

Street Outreach is the process of engaging and building relationships with individuals calling the streets home. In the process, we directly provide basic items needed for survival such as tents, tarps, sleeping bags, water, food, and clothing when necessary. Effective street outreach reaches people who might not otherwise seek assistance or come to the attention of the homelessness service system and ensures that people’s basic needs are met while supporting their personal goals. It involves moving outside the walls of an agency to engage with people experiencing homelessness who may be disconnected and alienated not only from mainstream services and supports, but also from basic life necessities.
